Neural Dynamics of Visual Cognition
PhD Candidate
14195 Berlin
I am a PhD student at Freie Universität Berlin, co-supervised by Professor Daniel Kaiser (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen) and Radek.
I graduated from the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at East China Normal University and obtained a master’s degree in cognitive neuroscience with honors. I joined the lab in October 2021, sponsored by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). I will combine neuroimaging methods (e.g., fMRI and EEG) and deep neural networks to explore perceptual processing mechanisms in my Ph.D. project.
Outside of the lab, I like to ride a bike to explore the city, watch movies, and play games (Total War, Call of Duty, Civilization, etc.).
For more details, please see my CV.
General research interests
Generally, I am interested in mathematical modeling, brain imaging technics, and computational mechanisms behind visual processing.
For my master thesis, I collected functional MRI data during task performance as well as high-angle resolution diffusion weighted imaging (HARDI) data, combining dynamic causal modeling (DCM) and parametric empirical Bayesian (PEB) model to explore the relationship between human brain functional and structural connectivity.
Ongoing research projects
In my first Ph.D. project I will combine drawing tasks and EEG to trace human internal models of the visual world. The three primary purposes are: 1) Probe internal scene model using drawings; 2) Predict scene processing efficiency from internal model descriptors; 3) Explore computational mechanisms behind internal models. This project is co-supervised by Prof. Daniel Kaiser (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen).
Student supervision & opportunities
I am also glad to work with interns or students interested in my project, and discuss papers, methods, and anything else.
