History - Languages of Emotion and the D.I.N.E.
Before the CCNB, thanks to the German Excellence Initiative, the interdisciplinary research center the Languages of Emotion (LoE) was founded at the Freie Universität Berlin. At the LoE, scholars and scientists from over 20 disciplines investigated the complex relationships between emotions and language, art, culture, and society. A wide range of emotion research topics and questions have been at the heart of more than 70 individual research projects. The Dahlem Institute of Neuroimaging of Emotion (D.I.N.E.) provided state-of-the-art neurocognitive laboratories for scientists and scholars. The LoE graduate school provided doctoral students the opportunity to pursue their projects in an interdisciplinary environment.
