Are there accommodations for students that have children?
Most students work around 10 hours a week alongside their studies. This seems to work well because the timetables are set at the beginning of the semester and employers can adapt to them.
Some students also have their own children or family members in need of care to care for. There may be time constraints here. However, the Free University of Berlin is trying to accommodate this issue as much as possible.
Before the start of the lecture period, students are asked to name courses that are particularly convenient in such a case. The examination offices will then carry out the respective registrations before the places are allocated. Only proof of the child to be cared for (up to the age of 12) or the family member to be cared for must be presented (e.g. birth certificate or proof of care).
